  • 1. What are Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs)?
ECAs are meaningful, structured lessons which take place after school. These lessons are run by external teachers and are designed to meet a wide range of children’s needs in the areas of sports, dance, creativity, STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics), music, and language.
  • 2. Where do ECAs take place and where do I collect my child?
Our ECAs take place at EuroKids Village (for children P2 and up) or in the ESF School (all children). At the ESF school our ECAs take place in the Modular Building (for Nursery - M1, M2 & P1 children) and some ECAs also take place on the school premises (e.g. school sports hall, lab, computer room). Parents can collect their children at these locations at the end of their child’s activity group. Specific pick- up information is contained within our e-mail confirming the start date of the activity for children.
  • 3. Are there times when ECAs do not take place?
When the ESF is closed, the last day before the Summer and Winter/Christmas Breaks and the first week of school after the Summer Break, we do not offer ECAs. We have a 99.75% success rate of avoiding cancellations (due to teacher illness etc.…) during the school year through providing cover lessons with substitute teachers. In the unlikely event this is not possible, Childminding services are provided.
  • 4. What equipment does my child need to bring?
Our activities are as diverse as the children entrusted to us. Parents will receive a specific information on what to bring within our e-mail confirming the start date of the activity. This information is also included in the reminder e-mails, that the parents receive some days before the activity starts. As a general rule: • For language and music activities, our teachers will inform the children about the required books, materials and instruments. • For sports, dance and performance activities - children need to wear appropriate sport clothing and bring a bottle of water. Special uniforms (e.g., for Judo) can be bought via the EuroKids administration team. For activities that take place in the sports hall, only shoes with white soles are allowed. • For robotics and ICT, our teachers will provide instructions on any required software and additional material to be purchased. • For creative activities, our teachers will provide information about any required materials. EuroKids provides a significant amount of equipment for all of our activities.
  • 5. Why might an ECA be cancelled during the school year?
If an activity does not receive enough interest, activities may be cancelled. EuroKids is a non-profit organization operating on non-profit principles. To offer sustainable services to the ESF community, we ensure that activities do not incur losses and are not subsidised through parents not using the services. In line with these principles, in the case of ECAs not receiving enough interest - if interested parents are in agreement, the price of the activity can be increased, or the activity can be cancelled.
  • 6. What happens if I am late picking up my child?
After an ECA has ended, children who are not collected by parents are escorted to our Childminding services or supervised by our team. For parents of children not registered with Childminding, additional costs are charged in accordance with our single day/ extension prices. Pick up after 18.15 incurs a 30Eur late charge.
  • 7. What are ECA Open Lessons?
Some activities host Open Lessons, which are performances or exhibitions that parents are invited to participate in. We inform parents via email if there is an upcoming Activity Open Lesson for children’s ECAs. Some activity groups or activity teachers also perform during the annual Summerfest. If this is the case, parents are informed with sufficient notice.

  • 9. Can my child immediately start attending the activity once I have completed the registration?
No…….Once parents have completed the registration process, they need to wait for the EuroKids Team to confirm their registration (See FAQ 8). Important additional information (such as childrens’ activity starting dates, what to bring etc…) is included in this ECA confirmation email.
  • 10. Can my child try out Extra Curricular Activities throughout the year?
Yes, parents can apply for Extra Curricular Activities throughout the school year. All mid-year activity registrations are subject to space being available and pedagogical considerations, e.g., how far other children in the activity have already progressed and whether it makes sense for a newcomer to join at that stage in time. Our registration and cancellation deadlines are listed in FAQ 13 and 14.
  • 11. How long does a registration for Extra Curricular Activities last?
ECA registrations automatically renew themselves each school year - with the following exceptions: 1. Children become too old for an activity, e.g. Early Musical Education is only available for Nursery and P1 Children. 2. Parents cancel the activity for the next trimester. (The first trimester is September-December, the second trimester is January-Easter and the third trimester is Easter-Summer Break. We remind parents via email when cancellation deadlines are approaching.)
  • 12. Do I have to do anything if I receive an email that my child is on an activity waiting list?
No. The EuroKids Team will contact parents as soon as a place becomes available. The waiting list remains valid until the end of each academic year.

Otherwise, charges apply for September 2024. If cancellation deadlines are not met, charges will apply for the remainder of the trimester.
  • 15. How do I pay for Extra Curricular Activities?
Extra Curricular Activities are calculated per year and payable over 10 equal monthly instalments (from September to June). These payments are debited from the PA Member’s account in the month after the services have taken place. Costs will be debited from the account which was provided in their Parent Association membership application and parents will receive notification of available invoices via mail prior to each withdrawal.
  • 16. How is the monthly charge for the activities calculated?
ECA lesson prices are multiplied by the number of weeks the lessons are scheduled to take place in a year. This yearly price is then payable over 10 equal monthly instalments (from September to June). e.g., An ECA costs 14 € per lesson. This takes place 35 weeks of the year. 14 (Euros) X 35 (weeks) = 490 € (Yearly Price) 490 (Yearly price) divided by 10 (monthly instalments) = 49 € (Per month from September-June) ECAs are charged on a monthly basis, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. Cancellations made within the first period/trimester cancellation deadline (September of each year) are charged with the monthly fee.

Childminding services are provided for children at no additional cost, in the unlikely event of activities not taking place.
  • 19. Am I charged if my child is ill or has a long-lasting health issue that prevents them from participating?
If children are unable to attend for whatever reason, parents should inform us via email. In the event of a short-term illness, e.g., a cold or a child is feeling unwell that day, the price of the activity is charged. In the event of a long-term health issue, e.g., a broken arm which prevents a child from participating in sports activities, parents are not charged if a doctor’s certificate is presented If there is Covid infection and quarantine or an absence due to a high-risk family member, absences that last for one month will be treated as a “long term health issue” without a charge (subject to doctor's certificate submission).
